Rave Girls

sexual, predatory, and demeaning

Sexual I can understand, but predatory and demeaning? I don't get this. If I looked half as good as the folks in those posts I'd be proud af to show it off. Want to take my picture? Please, do it. If you've got it, flaunt it.

I mean, am I wrong to assume that, if you're dressing the raver girl look, that shows that you've got pride in your body? It's like the opposite of demeaning. Getting fit takes effort, and genetics won't carry one the whole way.

As for predatory? I don't get this either. Yeah creepshots and voyeurism are wrong as fuck since they violate consent, but posed pictures? If I'm posing for a camera I'm pretty sure that's consent. And if I'm going to dress that way in public (which I have) I'm also tacitly consenting to being candidly photographed (within reason). But anyway, enough of a rant.

(I might be biased because I'm a gay dude, but really. Respect is a part of PLUR, and Consent is an integral part of Respect.)

That being said, I've got a couple outfits I've built up over a few months just getting stuff off of Amazon or from Goodwill. There's a lot that can be done just with layers of random bits as long as colors match. You could literally get away with 3 layers of underwear. Fluffies are 90% of the look anyway. I never do makeup or glitter though, looks fabulous but the hassle is awful.

Tumblr has a fuckload of not-too-sexualized blogs devoted to this so you might want to check there. It's where I got most of my ideas from.

And /r/kandi if you're going for the full-on kandi kid style. Some folks have even made entire outfits out of that stuff.
