The REAL gender gap: Men lag in humanities, languages, graduate fields of study - The College Fix

Umm, there's a picture of a high heel on some dude's face. I don't think this qualifies as a scholarly article...

In all seriousness, my field is dominated by women due to it being a pink collar field. It wasn't always this way, but since around 1950 that has been the case. It's due to it being very low paying, but also "safe and rrespectable". I would like it to become more diverse due to the fact we serve the community, but often do not reflect the community in terms of culture or socioeconomic class. At least my program is working on this, but not all programs are.

I think this article is forgetting what pink collar jobs are, and why we have them as a society. It isn't a conspiracy to keep men down, or something, but rather due to sexism at an insutitonal level. What's even more interesting is while my field is female dominated, that isn't the case for it's high level CEO like positions. At that level it shifts to men dominating which I think tells you a lot.

I also think this article is forgetting that while many women may get X degree, they still may not dominate in their field. You see this a lot in Iran where women outnumber men at the university, especially in STEM, but do not do so in the job market.
