You stated above that you know she is materialistic.

So I’m honestly not really sure why you’re surprised.

You throwing the party was super sweet and thoughtful. But it is not a gift. You know she likes material things.

Being materialistic would be a huge turn off for me. But it seems like you’ve been putting up with this for over a year. So again…. It seems like you would’ve known this might happen based on her previous behavior.

So, I’d say it’s not a “red flag” because it aligns with behavior and values you already knew she had. If being materialistic Is an issue for you…. Then you need to be digging deeper than this one event
