Reddit has officially decided that Bernie deserves more recognition for the Barr hearing than Kamala.

Bernie supporters constantly claim that he’s been the only one fighting for “progressive ideas” for 30 years, as some sort of plus for him despite zero accomplishment toward that end - and in the same breath absolutely obliterate any and every actual Democrat like Obama as being a Republican - despite Obama’s term having resulted in the electorate being polarized over marriage equality & universal healthcare somehow resulting in the majority approving of both, & through the duration nobody hardly knew who Bernie Sanders was because he was a nonfactor as usual, and it took a non-extremist to ease the uncomfortable populace into it.

That’s what happens when the majority of a fanbase are only just becoming adults. They have no grasp or perspective of what came before. The shift of opinions of voting Americans just during Obama’s term was gigantic. Obama himself was able to progressively shift the American mindset in his 8 years in office more than Bernie did in 30. That, is what a liberal democrat can do, that a far left socialist progressive cannot, and seemingly cannot grasp the reason for it. Bernie supporters like to tout that he singlehandedly moved the American populace & thus the Democratic Party toward supporting M4A. While completely ignoring how denigrated Obama was for being a “socialist”, and the majority of Americans didn’t even approve of the ACA until after Trump took office.

Yea sorry. Bernie’s 2016 campaign moving the party, & the electorate more importantly, toward M4A support, would never have happened without Obama running 8 years prior for Universal Healthcare & taking the full brunt of all criticism. Medicare for All would not be a thing right now if it weren’t for Obama easing the people into it, and these children don’t even remember it much less have any sort of appreciation. And they have the unmitigated gall to call Obama a “republican”, now.

How cute, you learned about European political parties. Kindly fuck off.

Bernie has been “fighting for” these things (not marriage equality or equal rights - that’s too “identity politics”!!) for 30 years? Cute. Barack Obama ran in 2008 on what they retroactively call a Republican agenda, and due to his ACA & 8 year tenure, the general public began to realize the idea wasn’t so extreme as the opposition painted it as. Bernie gets to sweep in when public sentiment is finally starting to shift, & somehow gets credited?

Give me a fucking break.

Bernie had 30 years. It took a moderate, a centrist, to convince the voting public to get on board. Because real life is comprised of careful measures, and realizing the majority of people aren’t extreme, and need to be eased into some things. If Obama had not come along, Bernie Sanders would have died without them ever knowing Bernie’s name. And they have the gall to call Obama a Republican status quo establishment corporate blah blah.
