Reddit, what's your worst roommate story?

Deep breath I'm going to make this as short as possible, bear with me.

  1. Quinoa in the dish washer.
  2. Dirty socks everywhere.
  3. Dirty dishes everywhere. Always.
  4. Cleaned the cat box about once every 2-3 months.
  5. Fed them so sporadically they would wolf down the food and promptly puke it up. Eventually I took over caring for them, and lo and behold they kept the food down! Imagine!
  6. Decided he was coming with us when we made the decision to buy a house.
  7. Less than a month before the move, decided to fuck off to Seattle for 3 months and left about 3 days later. He was still moving in with us though.
  8. Did not help clean before he left, even when asked.
  9. Did not stage his furniture for the move, pack up (most) of his stuff, or find extra hands for the move, after agreeing to do all of the above.
  10. Assumed I would take care of his cats, even after we requested he find someone else to take them for the time being.
  11. Was late each month on rent in the new house. We had to ask for it. Every. Month.
  12. Started dodging calls as the 3 month mark neared.
  13. His gf (now fiancée) posted to FB that she had a one way ticket to Seattle. Huh.
  14. At 4 months we finally get him to admit he might not be coming back. Maybe. "We'll see."
  15. We give him a deadline. Starts dodging us again.
  16. Finally tell him he's out, and needs to make arrangements to move his stuff and cats out because we have a new roommate lined up. Deadline gets pushed back.
  17. It is, quite literally, the 11th hour. To scare him into action I told him I'd take the cats to a shelter (we really couldn't keep them). He told me the pound was fine for the newer one. 1 hour before my appointment with AHA his friend shows up for the older cat. I was not told they were coming until a few minutes prior. (Not to worry... The abandoned cat was adopted less than a week after his arrival at the shelter.)
  18. He tries to con his friends into moving his stuff, again. Fails. His dad and my bf end up doing it while I was at work. Pod was too small, we had to dispose of the rest ourselves.
  19. He comes to visit, and insists on apologizing. For the fact that we cannot adopt an animal for 12 months because of the surrender of his cat. He does not realize/acknowledge he did anything else wrong.
  20. The two plus sides: he did give us money for moving and cat expenses, well after the fact, but most importantly we will never have to see him again.

There was definitely more, including that his gf sounds like a dying giraffe during sex, but you get the idea. Also, sorry if the formatting is screwy, I'm bad at mobile.

TL;DR: never move in with a narcissist.
