Redditors that are married, what's your proposal story?

My husband and I had a long distance relationship, me in US, him in New Zealand. We did talk about getting married and stuff, but we first decided to get rings for both of us that we could wear just kind of like a promise ring or something like that. I went to visit him last December and we bought cheap rings at the mall and we exchanged them in a fancy restaurant a few days after, but it wasn't really a proposal.

Fast forward to a couple of months where we went through the Fiance Visa process and everything to get him to the states. By April I was able to get him here and we set our marriage date for June in the court house. Just a few weeks before we were going to get married, I lost my ring. I was so devastated and sad about it because it was very special and I could not find it for the life of me. I didn't want to just buy another ring or anything because I wanted the one that he originally bought me. After days of searching at home and at work, there was no luck....

Our marriage date arrived and we were getting dressed up for the court house. We had some time to do some cleaning and so we started making our bed. Mind you, we do not have a bed frame, so it was a mattress on the floor. As we were making the bed, my fiance saw something fall under the mattress and he jumped to the side of the bed, grabbed that something, and then jumped in front of me really excited. I had no idea what he was doing, but after he jumped in front of me, he landed on one knee and showed me my missing ring and said "Will you marry me?" It was a huge surprise and it made me so happy!

A couple of hours later, we got married. :)

TL;DR: Fiance gave me a cheap ring when I visited his country not as an official proposal. Few weeks before we got married, I lost it. Day of wedding, he found it and officially proposed just hours before the marriage.
