Redditors who have become rich in the course of their lives: how did your relationships change after you became rich?

My mother's father was an abusive alcoholic so she married my father who was the first deadbeat loser who gave her any attention. He cheated on my mother with his brother's wife when I was two years old... then divorced my mother and abandoned us. My mother died when I was 14... then I discovered my father was also dead by that point and I was an orphan. Anyway I moved in with my aunt and uncle and went on to graduate with a business degree from a state University. I sold the 5 nightclubs I opened during university to open a wholesale supply company. The wholesale supply company sold to bars, nightclubs and restaurants. I met my wife at the point... I was driving an old beat up pickup... and wore the same 3 sets of clothes over and over. My apartment had nothing but a chair and bed. 1 plate, 1 bowl, a spoon, knife and fork. Anyway I was not a good 'catch'... and my wife took a chance on me... even though she could have gotten waaay better. All her friends laughed at her for dating me. Both her parents had college degrees and she was raised upper middle class. I had nothing to offer but I was smart, disciplined and dedicated. We got married.... My company over the years started manufacturing our own products. It has grown into a multi-million dollar international manufacturing company with offices in London, Vancouver and USA. My wife taught me that not everyone will abandon me... That the world is not always a cruel place that intentionally hurts 14 year old boys. She has shown me how to enjoy and appreciate the small things... like flowers or a sunset. We have been married 10 years and she is probably the best thing that has happened to me. I have given her jewelry... and taken her around the world.. Stonehenge, Pyramids, Taj Mahal, The Great Wall she's seen everything. But she's a simple person and would stand by my side if we lost it all today... She would stand by my side to the very end and I would do the same for her.
