Redditors who cheat, why do you do it and have you been caught?

Before I start, let me just say that I know I went about things the wrong way and I should have dumped her rather than cheat.

In short, I lost interest. But there's much more to it than that. She went away to college, and everything changed. For the better. We had already been dating for 8 months, and things had been pretty shitty on my end, perfect for her though. I'd shower her with affection, always. Every dollar I made was spent on her. I have a free minute from work? Ask her how her day is. A day off? Ask her if she wants to hang out. Her parents want to meet me? Tell her to invite them to my house so I can cook them dinner. Her parents absolutely loved me, and they'd tell her all the time she needed to focus on me more. Getting this girl to show affection to me was like convincing a vegan to eat a cheeseburger. She had all the free time in the world and refused to give me any of it. I doted on her with every single moment of my existence. Told myself I'd dump her when she went to college. FINALLY she goes to college and I decide to wait a few days, but I was already sleeping with other girls, since I knew I was gonna dump her. Fast forward a week and I call her to dump her and tell her how unfair it's been the way she's treated me. Before I can even start she bursts into tears over the phone and apologizes for everything she's done to me and has not done for me. Promises me she'll be better blah blah blah that she knows everything she had done was fucked up. She told me she sent me an edible arrangement and a letter should be coming in the mail ANYDAY now apologizing to me, which it did and was seven pages long, but I was determined to break up with her anyways the damage was already done. She told me if I broke up with her she'd kill herself...so dumb me stuck around and tried to keep things peaceful. But...I didn't stop sleeping around. I got a second girlfriend who sat around waiting for me to dump her so we could be happy. And this girl is absolutely fantastic. The most affectionate girl I've ever met and just about everything I've ever wanted. I finally dump her and make things official with girl #2.

Was never caught, will never tell her for fear of her suicide.
