Redditors who have a job that requires you to go into strangers homes, what is the craziest thing you've seen?

One time I was called in to "fix the internet" for this Greek lady that was notorious for always calling tech support with some sort of complaint. I had never actually been assigned to her before, so I didn't know what to expect when driving up to her house. I'd heard people calling her the "creepy" or "weird" one, so naturally I was a little uneasy. All the houses on the strip were pretty okay. Nothing special but maintained well. Except for one, with long, dying grass. The cement walkway was cracked and torn up on every inch, and the steps up to her door were lopsided and wobbly. Whatever, just one quick job and I'm out.

I knock and I hear someone yell at me to come in. Not like much was stopping me from doing so, since the door was already halfway open anyways. My first step felt like what I imagine Armstrong felt on the moon landing. A small puff of what I assume was ash and dust rose with every step, and left tracks where I walked. Her house was littered with a bunch of marbles, little plastic stars, crumbling clay(?) figurines, and little piles of sand. Her shelves and furniture (a lone la-z- boy) were filled to the brim with little trinkets. A few I can remember were dozens of little ceramic cats, two or three of those golden cats that infinitely swing their arms back and forth, clocks/watches, and a bunch of incense sticks. After I asked where she had her modem, she responded with a "in here" so I just followed her noise. Walking by a slightly open closet door, I spotted a weegie (is that how that's spelled?) board. Coupled with the jitters I already had coming into the place and seeing the state of her living room, seeing that thing sent my anxiety through the roof. Just imagining what rituals she performed gave me chills. So when I finally walk into her bedroom,I just stop dead at the doorway. Couldn't believe it.

I'm greeted with the appetizing sight of a half naked 40-50 year old woman blowing a giant puff of smoke from her joint into the face of her cat who was just lying on its side completely motionless. Her back was to me, so I just put it into reverse as quietly as possible and made for my truck. Once I got in and turned on the ignition and relaxed,I noticed my hand was shaking uncontrollably. I've never had a reaction like that to anything, but just being inside that house felt wrong. I finished the rest of my route and explained as best I could when I got to the office. They make fun of me for that, but it was a while ago and I can laugh about it now. Not sure what happened to the lady, but they permanently removed her from our service after she failed to pay, and called the police for what she did/was doing to her cat(s).

I'm not a very good story teller, so re reading this doesn't seem nearly as spooky as when it happened, sorry for that.
