Redditors who lost their Job because of a post to a social media platform, what happened?

I'm one of the lead investigators for a healthcare organisation in the UK, we have about 6000 staff. We have fairly relaxed policies on the use of social media but being in healthcare we do have boundaries which are very clear and staff are expected to follow them.

Problem is that many staff think that having facebook etc set to private get's them off the hook, when in fact it just let's them dangle. It's other staff members who typically grass them up along with screenshots or access to their accounts so we can capture evidence ourselves. I hate doing this shit as it's a waste of my time but the crap people seem to think they can post is incredible. A couple of examples:

  1. Person signed off work for over 5 months as she's too ill, lethargic to work - Yet happily starts up a self-employed beautician's company in her "now free time" just 2 weeks after initially being signed off, for the next 4.5 months she'd posted tons of updates, lots of images of her working, giving out free sessions at the local shops etc. One of her work mates finally snapped and grassed her up, she wasn't sacked but resigned the instant the shit hit the fan. She'll never be employed in healthcare again so good luck with the nail jobs love.

  2. Person posting about someone who's passed away before the family have been informed and TAGGING THE FAMILY as she'd become friendly with them and had added them to her facebook. Yes folks this shit really happens. I had to chat to the family members, who were forgiving but still recommended the staff member be fired, they were let off with a first and final warning. Again it was a staff member who grassed her up, but she took 5 days to remove the post..

  3. Member of the public pointing out that one of our staff is blatantly racist on Facebook, public profile, open to the world to see, profile pic shows her in uniform, her profile is linked to work etc etc. Recommended dismissal, still trying to find out if it's happened yet.
