Redditors who have met a former crush years later, how did it turn out?

This is happening to me right now, still a WIP.

I have an online friend that I've known for over 10yrs. We always got on extremely well and there was obvious chemistry, but we lived on opposite sides of the country so things never progressed past some playful flirting. I had once asked her if she'd ever consider us together, but she quickly shot me down saying she didn't want to do long distance. On another occasion I implied I was going to send her roses for Valentine's Day, she got angry and told me not to. When she got a bunch of roses from an anonymous admirer she was extremely pleased with me, then I said she had told me not to send any so I didn't...she didn't like that either.

Eventually she started seeing someone locally, as did I, but we jokingly made a pact that if we were both single at 30 we'd best get married. As sometimes happens during relationships, we fell out of contact with eachother for various unfortunate jealousy-based reasons.

- Seven years pass -

Earlier this year I was newly single and happened to see a familiar name pop up in the 'people you may know' section on Facebook. I wasn't 100% on it being her so I called her by a secret nickname we had for eachother.

'HOLY BALLS!!! I was just thinking about you the other day! I'm so glad you found me'

We spent some time reminiscing, she jabbed at me about never sending her roses, and we updated eachother on what we'd been doing since losing contact - as it happens her 'The One' hadn't worked out either.

A short while ago it was her 30th birthday, and remembering my previous failures I decided to send her a bunch of roses, 'one for each birthday I've missed over the years', as the card said. Reddit, this was the catalyst. She cried and offered to fly me to over to see her, as she thought it 'ridiculous' that we still hadn't met in person after all this time. Still hasn't happened just yet due to poor timing, but very soon we're finally going to spend some, uhh...quality time together.

TL;DR-
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Bitches love flowers
Just send some you fool
