Regarding complaints of Man of Steel being colorless and too dark, disagree and say Superman is a beacon of color in a bleak world. Even with the grim lighting. The fast pacing and constant action didn't showcase it very well.

Honestly, and this is very specific, the only thing that disappointed me about MoS was, the original Superman film had it's script punched up by my favorite writer of all time, Tom Mankiewicz. There were all these little moments in the script that made it SO epic. The first line of the film spoken by an actual character, Jor-El, played by Marlon Brando were "This is no fantasy". Details like that are just delightful to me.

Also, the ending didn't have the big triumphant moment I hoped it would have.

I've grown to accept the rest of the film as a setup for a future story, so I'm not complaining about the destruction or possible loss of life and the neck break and etc etc. (add in all the complaints we've heard from everyone, including myself).

That being said, I just don't end up feeling very happy after seeing the movie. When Superman Returns came out (and I don't want to get into whether people liked that movie), I came into work the next day and everyone was talking about it. "Holy crap, is Jason going to be Superboy? What's going to happen with the Kryptonite continent? Is that going to grow into a new Krypton? Is Richard going to be Superman's pal in the next movie? They get along so well!"... There were just so many positive questions and discussion and we just had a blast talking about it the next day.

After MoS came out, the next day, I went to work and all I heard was "Superman killed somebody". Yeesh. There was no discussion. No one was curious about anything or talking about future possibilities.

Overall, I'm hopeful because I love 300 and I love Watchmen and I honestly hope Zack Snyder becomes the next Richard Donner, but there has to be a big tonal shift in BvS where there is a BIG injection of FUN and TWISTS and crazy stuff that just gets us talking and wondering. I hope the only twist in this film won't be "Darkseid side show up in a future movie!"
