I was in the same boat as you and the OP /u/TheXelis for years and I've kissed many frogs looking for princes. What I used to do was look on the various threads that would ask things like "What are your top 5 litrpgs?" or "What are you top ten progression/litrpg series?" Then I'd look at the ones that got a lot of upvotes or that multiple people were requesting over and over.
