Samsung has Removed the Ability to Remap the Bixby Button on the Galaxy S8/S8+

Unpopular opinion:

What if Bixby is good?

Why is everyone dismissing this possibility? Should we not encourage competition between companies? Healthy competition between companies gives us, the consumers, better products. Right now, we can all probably agree that Google assistant is the best AI assistant. No one has even used Bixby yet. Why are we so adamant in avoiding something new before we even tried it? Should we not give it the benefit of the doubt?

If I were the head of a company and I see how the public is reacting to my new product that no one has even tried yet, of course I'd do all I can to make sure the general public tries it. Assuming I have any confidence in my product.

And who's to say that Samsung won't allow reassigning the button in the future after people have tried Bixby and decided for themselves whether they like it or not. (For all we know, there'll be some exploit in the form of an app in the future anyway).

All I'm saying is, what we're doing is just discouraging companies from trying harder. In the end, we just hurt ourselves as consumers.

(If Bixby turns out to be shit, then I say let all hell break lose upon Samsung for dedicating a physical button to a shitty AI assistant without letting us remap it.)
