Sadly a lot of Saudi girls become delusional after hearing about other Saudi girls that fled and applied for Asylum. They all think that its Sunshine and Rainbows and you get to live like how movie characters live. The Process in the US is really long and complicated. A lot of them don’t get an Employment Authorization Card for month up to a year, which means that they have no means of income and they can’t pay rent or food or other necessities. When they finally receive their EAD, they find out that they can’t even work minimum wage jobs because no one wants a girl that has no experience in anything other than a foreign High School Diploma. Also their English would most likely be isn’t that good. A lot of them end up wishing for any job even its backbreaking and humiliating.
During the process of their Asylum, they say that they renounced Islam even if they didn’t. This makes them eligible for Asylum due to valid fear on one’s life. They end up here in the US without any family or money and they can’t ever go back even if they changed their minds. A lot of those girls end up having sex for a living and for food (Source: a few of those Saudi Girls on Twitter). Also, since they barely make $400-500 a month due to people cutting their hours and jobs like construction, they end up hoping that the Shelters would accept them,
A couple of Years ago, a few Saudi girls showed up on a CNN Interview talking about how bad Saudi is and how their families are. One of those girls now works at a Hookah lounge changing Coal for people. She went from having everything paid for in her life and not ever needing to work, to barely making minimum wage. The other girl shows up on News Interviews every once in a while.
Last year Two Sisters, one was a minor and the other was 19 or 20, their Father paid for them to go to Dubai for Vacation, but when they got into the airport, instead of going to their intended flight, they went to a flight headed for the US. They convinced each other that they would go there and apply for Asylum and be able live out their life as if they were on a Permanent Vacation. When they got into the Border, the ICE Agent them about their intent, and they told him that they wish for Asylum. They detained them for 9 months before they got to their Case. Their Dad lost his mind over his little girls, he couldn’t see them or contact them because they were detained. In the End, the older girl ended up becoming a Bagger at a Grocery store barely making anything and younger one was taken and put into a family.
Some people need to know and realize that applying for Asylum is not a joke. Without having some capital, life is going to be extremely difficult and excruciatingly painful. They will end up working any jobs just to survive. And that’s going from being flithy rich and having everything that you ever wanted paid for to having absolutely nothing. I believe that the only way that someone should apply for Asylum is if they were facing imminent death. Most of the girls that apply for Asylum are Teenagers that make hasty decisions just like most Teenagers and they don’t realize the consequences of their actions until its too late.
Now going back to the girl that’s stuck in Thailand. She didn’t actually renounce her religion, but uses that as reason to be eligible for Asylum. She made herself in a dangerous situation by making it viral and everywhere on the news. She’s only 18 years old. I hope that she gets the Asylum that she’s looking for. Life is gonna be harder for her from now on.
