So what's the mass weakness to SMS 2FA? Every article that points out weaknesses to it involve someone specifically targeting you (ie they know your name, phone number and a bunch of your personal info to do it)

Which wouldn't happen for something as worthless as video games. If you can spoof your victims cell phone to intercept their verification texts and know that much about them. I'd imagine you'd target their bank account, bitcoin wallet or something of real value over a video game account lol.

So yeah it's not perfect defense but it's more than enough to protect the vast majority of PSN accounts. Stuff like google auth is only marginally more secure too anyways if someone is out to get you like that. Plus imo anything more secure overkill for a gaming account
