Selling our house - by owner? realtor?

We sold our house ourselves. You can buy an MLS listing for around $500 and will technically be given an "agent" but you do all the work yourself and dont pay anything beyond the flat fee. They do give you support though if you have questions about the process.

It worked out just fine, we had 20 showings within 3 days and 4 offers that counteroffered above asking price. One of the nice things about doing it yourself is you can say/do a lot of things that realtors cant because they're part of a realtor association. Do your research on staging your house, how to take good photos, be gracious and know when to take the best. We only showed the house once or twice ourselves because on the MLS it was mostly other agents bringing in people. Mostly it was just a lot of fielding phone calls.
