Why do sergals always want to eat people?

Here it is: http://www.reddit.com/r/furry/comments/2158vx/what_are_sergals/cg9xrtb

A fictional species native to a fictional planet called Birousu. The planet is said to have one supercontinent called Vilous, named after the god who created the cosmos. Vilous (the god) created a sword capable of great power, including the creation of life, touched it to Birousu, and many species, sergals among them, were born. He gave this sword to an angel, told the angel to keep an eye on Birousu, then took off to parts unknown to do more awesome creation things.

And for a time things were awesome, but there was one jerk sergal who wanted the power of the sword, so he tricked the angel and killed him, but before he could get the sword he awoke a curse that twisted his body into a feral monster, and his clan was cursed to perpetual warfare and misery. (bummer!)

The sword was lost, and body parts of the Angel that were magical were scattered and hidden across the world. It is said that uniting the angel's parts will end the curse and lead the way to the sword.

Fast forward a few thousand years. Clan Shigu, the clan that got screwed over by this ancestor's actions, is united under the battle standards of one, Rain Silves. A genetic mutation that gave her yellow eyes instead of blue or gray as is typical of sergals, immediately makes her an outcast. This rejection of mutation is so strong, even her mother tried to kill her, but Rain was of tougher stuff, and was quickly molded into a vengeful murder-and-rape machine by a society that did not want her. She rose quickly through the ranks of battle to become The Brutal General and her campaign of death and destruction across Vilous is legendary.

Now the sad thing is that because of Rain, all sergals have been stereotyped as vore and rape machines, when Mick herself clarified that this is not normal behavior and is really only seen in Rain herself and her immediate command. The second sad thing is that most people write Rain off as a single-minded cartoonish villain whose only use is in rape joke memes, but she's actually a sophisticated yet tragic character.

Yes, Rain Silves does disturbing things. Yes, she does murder, rape, and eat her victims, but deep in this insane lust for power is an individual who wants the madness to stop. Her military career is devoted to tracking down the angel's relics, uniting them and lifting the curse from her people...it just so happens the best way she thinks to go about it is through the genocide of anyone that stands in her way. In short, all she was trained to use in life is a hammer, and now everything to her looks like a nail. She's a monster trying to fill the role of a hero.

Not that I condone her actions, of course, but Rain's a complex character, is all I'm saying.

Now, all of this is fascinating stuff, but the Vilous mythos was rebooted, sergals became more mammalian, and the setting changed from medieval to steampunk. However, Mick wasn't happy with the reboot, so it was abandoned, and the original mythos ended up being a casualty as well, probably due to the desire to move on and do different stuff.

Of course, that didn't stop people from fully statting sergals and rolling them into a unified RPG setting. As it stands, the folks at /tg/ have pretty much taken over, and have fleshed out sergals more than Mick ever could and mick seems content with that, relinquishing her creation and declaring there's no official canon any more.

So what are sergals, you ask? Pretty much whatever you want them to be now. All Mick asks is that she gets credit for her species design, and some coin if you turn a profit from it.
