Why is this series so important for us citizens outside of America

Before I make my point, let me give you my background. I am a US citizen, born and raised. I am married to a European, who has been in the US with me only a few years. I have also lived in several other countries off and on so I've had the whole "outside looking in" experience. (Which, IMO, everyone should have- no matter the country). And one thing really struck me- even my own spouse is guilty of this thing...

Why do you insist on saying "you Americans"? Do you not realize that Americans are you? That Americans are people like my husband, who has one foot in Europe and one foot in the US? Do you not realize we don't all want to own guns? Do you realize that the vast majority of us are just as frustrated as you? And do you not realize that we give us some things, in order to have others, and that we don't have a choice in some ways because our country is so large and so varied that in some places it makes perfect sense to own guns?

Take for example- Alaska. I was very anti gun until I lived in Alaska. In Alaska, subsistence living is still very alive and well and it is the right of the people there to live as they have lived for thousands of years.

Alaska is an American state. Alaska is "You guys."

Are you picking up what I'm putting down? If you really want to help you need to stop pointing your finger at this country as a whole and start really digging in and understanding why even our president can't seem to effect change where it counts. Because posts like this drive me crazy. Steven Avery isn't in jail because of a gun, Steven Avery is in jail because some asshole took a young girl's life.... and what's fundamentally wrong here is that there is a fundamental lack of respect for individual lives at home and abroad.
