[Serious] Have you ever met a compulsive liar? What kind of stuff did they lie about?

Okay, so here is my story. When I met my ex-bf, he told me, he was half-scottish, half-french, but born in Germany and also had his Fachhochschulreife (German graduation which qualifies you to visit college). Next time we met, he was half-scottish, half-american and also had only a Realschulabschluss (just a mediocre graduation, which qualifies you for an apprenticeship in most businesses, but no further studying). I thought that I just got the thing with his background wrong and he admitted that he lied to me about his graduation to impress me (I was studying that time). I guess that this was when I should become suspicious, but I liked him, so I gave it a try. He basically told me everything I wanted to hear about his views and his mindset and I believed him, thought, that I found the one I was dreaming of. It went pretty well and after 1/2 year we decided to move together to the town I was studying. And at that point, everything went wrong. He had problems finding a job (he never worked before), and once he did, it didn't take long till he screwed it. We shared the rent, but actually it was just me, who was paying. He never told me, that he didn't pay his part, so guess how surprised I was when we got kicked out of our appartment. Same happened in the next appartment. That time he told me, he had a job and because he left the appartment and has been away for hours at night (night shift), I believed that. Actually he went gambling, he even stole my money for that, and then went to clubs and got drunk. A mutual friend told me that she saw him there alone, and I could not believe it. I confronted him, but he said she was lying, because she was secretely in love with him and wanted us to break up. And I also believed that. Or I didn't want to see the truth. I'm not sure. So, long story short, it took much more of those things to make me finally realize, that he was liar and just not worth spending anymore time with him. All in all almost 3 years wasted on him.
