God no. I think that Obamacare's a terrible idea because forcing people to buy insurance and subsdidising some doesn't tackle any of the fundamental problems that the US healthcare system faces. All it does is expand the market. Ideally the solution from my perspective is to abolish capitalism and have people establish mutual aid societies, but assuming that that aint' gonna' happen then I support a nationalised system such as Britain's supported by taxation on the rich. It's by no means perfect, by it's superior to what you've got now.

However I would point out that the countries where such problems are widespread, you don't see free markets (or any resemblance therefore) but rather corrupt governments exploiting people.

Actually they have both corrupt governments and market economies. They may not be nearly as free as you like, but they're still markets and they're still capitalism.

I could point to countries that rose rapidly from 3rd world poverty to a great bastion of economic growth through the free market...

Karl Marx makes much the same point. Capitalism is a great improvement on feudalism and it creates a lot of innovation and development. My point is that now we've had capitalism for a time we can move on to a fairer system, where humans can truly develop to their true potential.

I totally agree with this. Redistribution within the capitalist system is a failed policy, and it doesn't tackle the fundamental and deeprooted problems these countries face. We need global communism, not global social democracy.
