Serious question : is it illegal for a married woman to have sex with a man who’s not her husband in Tunisia? In some Muslim countries this is punishable by death. I’ve learned that Tunisia is more liberal than most Muslim countries but are they that liberal?

My armchair theory is that Rebecca likes the idea of the strong, alpha male - which is what Arabic men are typically viewed as. She probably likes the idea of being taken care of, protected, and revered, and feels that if Zied is possessive of her, it means he really loves her. But that shit doesn't last long, and you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want this type of guy, you also have to accept that they're going to be controlling in other areas, not just when you want them to be. And they'll have expectations you may not want to meet.

I've seen this before with friends. They wanted an assertive guy who had their way with them, because these qualities were 'sexy', but didn't realize that this also meant they'd no longer have much say in picking restaurants, what clothes they could wear, who they hung out with, etc., which isn't always so hot.

She wants all the good qualities of being with an Arabic man (based on sterotypes and generalizations, of course), but isn't prepared to look at the downsides (that culturally, she doesn't align with them).
