[Serious] Reddit How did you stop worrying about the fact that other people are leading a better life than yours ?

So, let's say everyone lives 100 years. So at 20 years old, you're at 20% of your life progress.

At 20%, you might be broke, failing classes and not being able to do what you want. You look at the news and read about a celebrity 40% who just had a yacht party and got engaged to the actress/actor you have a crush on. Sounds like you're doing pretty bad and they're doing pretty good, right?

But consider this: At 33%, you might have found a nice job and have a little family that fills your life with joy. And the celebrity, at 53%, might be going through a divorce and has tweeted a bunch of racist/hateful nonsense that got their career effectively ruined.

Lives can't really be compared linearly, since everyone's is on a different timeline and full of ups and downs. What you can do is try to make sure your life's ups can keep coming, by finding what makes you happy. One person's "better life" can turn into your "damn, poor guy..."

Even if someone has more money than you, you don't know what they're going through in their head, or what awful illness they might get, etc. The best we can do is hope everyone, including ourselves, can experience their versions of happiness.
