In an apartment i expect a certain level of noise from my neighbors. Walking, talking, dropping shit, vacuuming, guests, weekend parties, practicing an instrument, crying kids, whatever live your life.

What i don't expect is for you to loose your shit everytime i take a step or make a noise. I'm actually pretty cautious of the noise my family and i make and go as far as to walk on my toes past certain hours. I don't even have people over.

I moved into a second floor apartment and had the downstairs neighbor come up at 8am on the first Saturday there to complain that i made too much noise and that they couldn't read because of the banging noises. My son could be loud but on this particular morning he and i were reading on the couch and we dropped a small book.

I came to realize that she would complain about everything not just from me but all the neighbors. She ironically yelled out the window how other people live in the complex when new tenants were talking out in the stairwell. But the biggest irritation was always wondering when she would come knock on our door and complain.
