[Serious] Redditors, have you ever helped a family member or friend who had loads of talent but had low self esteem issues and considered himself/herself to be unworthy? Did the conversation change their lives in a big way?

Couple years ago I met one of my middle school classmates, we weren't friends back then but it's always nice to meet people from your past, so we got to talking, and drinking, and suddenly he opened up, about how he couldn't get girls and was a virgin, you know how sometimes we know the answers to our problems but need someone else to tell them to us? It was something like that, we talked for 2 hours, he left all confident and called me 2 weeks later said he's getting married and he's so happy and it's all because of me, inside I was like WHAT HAVE I DONE! but they have a kid now, and happy, and every time we meet he brings up that conversation, it's nice but it used to creep me out a bit, now it's fine.
