[Serious] Teachers of reddit, what "red flags" have you seen in your students? What happened?

I guess I'll share this from another side of things...I was the kid flagged. I'm 31 now and was diagnosed as sociopathic early on in middle school after going through professional counseling. I wasn't aggressive but I was smart, aloof and manipulative. I could lie directly to your face and somehow always avoided trouble.

In 3rd grade I was in a private high school. K-12 all lunched at the same time. I told this black kid he had AIDS and smelled like it (?). I knew one older kid that was a HSer from volunteering. When they brought me to the principal office,I blamed that older kid and said I was just relaying the message. I had no idea what that even was. Kid got wrote up and kicked out of school for harassing children. Think he was a junior.

I made good grades. College came and I spiraled into alcohol and mischief. I always got out of it. I got busted once for battery on a friend and went to court and plead down to a first time misdemeanor.

Since, I've got stopped for DWI 4 times, including a wreck while drunk. Cops came out everytime. Never got busted. Always talked my way out of things. I got brought before the judge recently for illegal uturn sober- got it dismissed (I know, legit badass).

I say all that to say this: some kids can't be saved.
