[Serious] What dead celebrities are treated like they were saints, but when they were alive they were actually awful people?

That isn’t really fair, though. Elvis’ music was the first to combine black and white culture and open up people’s minds to the original source - black blues and gospel music - and he always credited black musicians who came before him for his inspiration. He worked harder than Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Johnny Cash combined which is why he was so much more famous plus his voice was uniquely compelling. He actually talked about this a few times. He grew up poor in Mississippi which, like today, was one of the poorest parts of the country. He learned to sing and play from the people around him, because they were all poor together. He learned guitar from a black man, learned to sing by listening to the blues and old school country and people in his community, black and white. For racists whites back then he was too black, for narrowminded cultural elitists today he was too white.
