Thank you for your answer. I agree, I don’t think it’s something that someone can just come to terms with on such short notice - and I shouldn’t expect that either.

In fairness, I only started considering it this year - we got married last year and knew each other for 2 years before that, so during that time I never considered it. I don’t think I deceived or tricked her because it’s not like I knew or had this idea in my head before we got married and just kept it from her. It’s something I’ve been considering for the past few months, but haven’t made a final decision.

I’m curious - would you still have the same opinion if your spouse was not going to be deployed, and only had to go to base one weekend a month? In other words, besides the initial training period, if it wasn’t a long distance relationship & you lived together but he had that one weekend a month he had to go to base, and he wasn’t going to get deployed - would you still feel the same way?
