[Serious] What's the creepiest story you've ever read/heard, true or not?

This story was told to me by a friend who had just recently moved to the US from Malaysia. The story starts off with a group of friends (5 to be specific) are on their way to a haunted house out in Malaysia. They are in a 4-door, 5-seater sedan (this becomes relevant later on). The 5 friends arrive at the house, exit the car and begin to explore the grounds. They decide to go explore on their own, each go off in separate directions. They're exploring the grounds for an unspecified amount of time when they hear screaming. All of the friends go rushing to the car, they get it and drive away frightened, and unsure what caused the screaming as none of them were the ones screaming.

On their way back they arrive at a pitstop; they stop to discuss what had happened. However, only four of the friends get out. The one left is sitting in the middle, back seat. They think nothing of it, assuming he is just too scared to even want to get out. However, he was emotionless, showing no signs of emotion whatsoever. As the four friends are walking to a supply store at the pitstop, an older gentleman confronts them asking, "where are you boys coming from"? They tell the man and he responds with, " you need to go back to that house and get you friend." Pointing to the car (and theone friend who stayed in the car) he says, "that thing is not your friend. You need to take it back to the house and find your friend."

The four friends are terrified, firstly to the realization that whatever it was, it surely wasn't their friend, and secondly, to the fact that they have to get back in the car, unsure of what this thing might do to them, and back to the house to find their friend. On their way back the "friend" sitting in the middle is quiet, staring straight ahead with no particular emotion in his face. When they arrive at the house they get out to find their friend, leaving that thing in the car. They find their friend in a room, in the fetal position, where they begin to ask what had happened and he questions them as to why they left him. They proceednto explain wh, they at least, thought he was with them. When they arrive at the car, the thing that was left is no longer there.

That's where the story ends. First time I heard it, and even to this day, I get the chills hearing it and telling it.
