As in it's happened enough that you don't want to get burned again by a traumatic experience.
I've had enough white boy's families gently and not so gently coach him against dating a black girl that I've learned my lesson.
Those white boys and their families don't represent *all" white boys and their families, but it's enough to teach me not to get burned again. I don't need to put myself through that potential trauma again.
Many white families work this way, whether you like it or not. It's not all---but enough to be known as a learning experience by black people, and enough to be avoided in order to avoid unnecessary suffering.
It is what it is.
