Alec has mismanaged this show from the start, constantly replacing writers season after season and never really figuring out how to break out of the trappings of the SV format where it’s one step forward and two steps back. I don’t blame him for wanting to focus more on Bill’s show now that it’s shiny and new and feels fresh and different. The truth is, SV was a pain in the ass to write bc they never wanted to make it “tech bro entourage”, they had a main cast member suddenly die after season 1, and not to mention dealing with his issues with TJ day in and day out. At this point I would say SV is effectively dead, but in retrospect it was one of the best comedies on tv at best and a fine show at worst, definitely something to be proud of overall.

I’m also happy that it’s gone a long way to launch the mainstream success of Thomas, Zach, Kumail, and Jimmy. TJ could have really catapulted his career too, but well, ya know.
