Most people understand it, sure. But then they also don't see that that's exactly what they're not doing.

You can be for having the vaccine and at the same time believing that mandating it is not needed. People should have free choice. You shouldn't be forced into doing something against your own will.

Because everything is so politicised in america this nuance almost never occurs in discourse. This creates a very polarised situation.

When you talk about vaccines and not wanting to force people to take it the jab crowd goes "You're endangering all of us, you're responsible for this! sigma variant! anti-vaxxer, "

Even though none of those things were even mentioned. You're not an anti-vaxxer but because you dared to say a mandate is going to far you're now one of "them" not one of "us".
