Imagine being a writer and having this shit take...

As opposed to Rey, who is good at everything right off of the bat. She experiences no learning curve with flying the Millenium Falcon, or rewiring it for that matter. Do we see her do the work to acquire this skill? No. She just has it. Why does modern day pop culture stan characters who have to do no work for all the reward and prestige? Why don't we stan characters who earn their titles of heroism through blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice? Maybe there are people out there who do not want us to resonate with the hero's journey, or aspire to do what it takes to become truly great. Hell, fucking Saitama, One Punch Man, is ridiculously overpowered, but at least he did something to earn that power. At least he had to go through a journey to get there, and even now that he's there, he is still learning and developing as a character.
