I've been following this shit since almost the beginning. It was Mr Metokur/Internet Aristocrat's Five Guys video that gave me the briefing about the situation and then after hearing about the gamers are dead articles, I noted how the bigger gaming websites were trying to sweep it all under the rug and burn their audience in the process.

Going with that knowledge, the topic came up on a forum I used to go to, where everyone was siding with the media and shitting on gamers. This forum was loosely associated with people who went to the SomethingAwful forums so you might be able to predict where this would lead. Still, I felt that they didn't have all the information so I linked them the material I had found and said to see how they felt afterwards. I was met mostly with malice and people saying they refused to look at the material because it remotely supported the opposite side. I was asked such strawmans as what it was like to hate women, and how's the view from your moms basement? I actually did start debating with the more civil of them, but in the end, it always came back to personal insults towards me. On a positive note, the mod of the forum did their best to keep discussion civil and me and her are still friends to this day, but by the end of it, it was only me saying the contrary opinion and that grew tiring after awhile. I quit the forum and lost some people who I thought were my friends in the process. Though another positive note is that I'm still good friends with some people from the forum who supported me despite having a different opinion. Glad to have more quality friends than shitty ones.

Combine this experience with seeing all the censorship on the topic, such as the TB topic graveyard, and various sites banning the topic, including 4Chan, which I almost never go to but expected better of on allowing the topic to be discussed, and the other details of gaming website collusion start to surface (GameJournoPro) and that's where the seeds of distrust for the extreme left, the gaming press, and the main stream media started to begin for me.
