Solid dose of karma served

To be fair, most people on the internet I call a fuckhole at one point or another and if you want to call me inconsiderate and idiotic for that, then fine. I still stand by that I can call someone a fuckhole for leaving a pool uncovered with standing water in it and no immediate long term way out for an animal. Please don't use "the season at the moment" since it's likely this gif is like 5 years old considering how Reddit works. Either way, it isn't rain water - there's no way rain water is that dark, that disgusting, and that sludgy. It's standing water that's been there a while.

Now about the pool... I have an inground pool. We don't empty the water from it during the winter, as doing so would make it damn near impossible to cover, be annoying to fill up every year, would ruin the yard, and would cause standing water at one end like this. Instead we empty a few inches so the water doesn't reach the filter, then cover it. The cover stays to the water to the point that when our new dog walked on it for the first time, she touched the water, the water came through, but she could get out and not anywhere near enough came through for her to be in danger. The only time there's ever been a lot of water is when a home inspector stepped onto it and fell - he got soaked, but he was also 250 pounds.

A properly covered inground pool is very difficult for an animal to get under. I can't get my fingers under the cover to touch the water from any side because it's so tight. Yes, if something really wants to burrow under it it will, but that something is likely a mouse or a squirrel and not a cat. There's no way a cat can get under our cover with how tight it is. And guess what? If something did, we have steps built into it for the animal to get back to where there's no water and figure out how to climb out - this pool likely didn't have that.

If the thing is left open and uncovered, water is going to collect, likely not be drained out, and an animal can easily fall in. What's worse is that it's likely the owner's pet who fell in - he let the other cat come up and didn't hesitate about them being near each other when a stray would be a cause for worry due to disease, aggression, etc. It isn't bad that he lets his cat out (well, I hate that due to cars and predators but to each his own) but it is when there's an uncovered, deep pool that can be slippery on the sides.

So really, I stand my ground. Any pool should be covered at the end of the season, and I'm going to call everyone a fuckhole if I please and be as idiotic as I want by doing so. Quite honestly though not sure how calling someone a rude name makes me a genius or an idiot...
