A Spike of Motivation

Hey there! Weight loss seems complicated, but once you get the hang of it you'll be just fine! It's all about finding ways to be successful and making your lifestyle something you can maintain. There happens to be very helpful guides on this subreddit! Read through the sidebar and the FAQ and it will I've you all the details on CICO you will need to get started.

For now though, here's the basics:

  1. Download MyFitnessPal and calculate your TDEE. Set your deficit for a 2 pound/week weight loss based on a sedentary lifestyle.
  2. If you can afford it, pick up a food scale.
  3. Weigh and log what you eat in MFP. (I did this for a time before I actually worried about eating a certain number of calories, to get an idea of my consumption.
  4. Work down to your daily calorie goal in MFP slowly over a a few weeks.
  5. As you learn more about your food choices, you might start to sub out some junky foods for higher nutrient ones. Be careful with this though, as you don't want to eat things you hate all the time for "health" reasons, haha.

That's really a short version and I'm probably missing something. Please, pour over this subreddit's sidebar and FAQ. Read posts by u/funchords (moderator on here). There is so much useful information here, it's almost hard to believe. Again, hope this helps! Good luck on your journey!!!
