I think... that what may happen with Dany is: I agree in that she'll get a blend of the Fire&Blood + Mhysa, but WITH the large help of Dany Savior Complex. Tyrion analyzed her well in ADWD - she perceives herself as a rescuer. Say she comes to Westeros and sees an already-ruined continent, plus she hears about Others. Maybe she even hears about these facts while in Essos? A large dose of reality check in regards to Robert's Rebellion is coming to her, too (from Tyrion most likely, if he stops being his ADWD-asshole persona). Point being... these reasons we may characterize her as a villain - all the burning - won't look like that in her mind, and to all her many, many supporters ("Slavery is bad, Dothraki are bad, to hell with them!"), so she can easily flip back to being good-ish by the end of TWOW.

In general, I guess the ideas that say "Others are a distinct race" are rekt. Though that leaves the rest - like their motivation - still in the air.

My stuff that's rekt is the idea that KG at TOJ wanted to crown Jon... and I suppose the one where I said "Dosh Khaleen will make more prophecies, tell Dany about Others/Westeros, this makes her leave Meereen finally". Though I suppose Kinvara may do it?

In regards to the TWOW chapter... I guess it's not even so much the travelogue, but: GRRM has been outraced by show, and the tibits he gives us are pretty slow chapters about a minor character meeting even more minor characters ect. A lot of people are critical in regards to AFFC/ADWD pacing and structure, and then the hope was that all the setup from those two books will payoff in TWOW, like an even more glorious ASOS. Yet, the half-dozen(?) chapters he released so far are more of the same. And well, it pales in comparison to the big S06 reveals and speed. I'm hoping he has only a few of these "slow" chapters in TWOW - he's releasing the previews that spoil (almost) nothing on purpose.
