[Spoilers] Re:Creators - Episode 9 discussion

The author has a high school level of writing skills.

Literally the only way he knows how to communicate his ideas to the viewer is to have his characters sit/stand in a circle with each other and tell each other their worldviews, unprompted, from beginning to finish. Exposition, worldbuilding, characterization are all done using dialogue. Comparatively very little is shown to the viewer; almost everything we know about the characters, their philosophy, their prior experience, and their personality is from them telling us. This is the laziest, most unconvincing form of writing possible, and it looks like the effort of a 14 year old fanfiction author.

A good storyteller should do more showing, and less telling. I am reminded of great writing skills from shows like Hyouka, which was able to subtly communicate the mood, emotion, atmosphere, and characterization wordlessly and effortlessly. So far, Re:Creators is anything but good writing.

It is honestly worse than Sword Art Online II where Kirito and co sit down in a cafe and talk for half the season, because at least the dialogue was largely contained to exposition only.

Also, the "dying character gives a huge monologue but leaves out the critical information" cliche? Really?

I'm going to keep watching, but if more episodes are like this then I'll probably drop it in a couple of weeks.
