Do I stand any chance at a clearance with undisclosed serious crimes?

I guess maybe they are, but I've obsessed over the stuff enough to realize that there is definitely a way this could be prosecuted. I could probably go into a full legal analysis but it boils down to either sending obscene material to a minor (which they couldn't charge now because of statute of limitations), enticing a minor into illegal sexual activity (by encouraging them to masturbate), or directing a child to engage in sexual conduct. All of those the actual age of the person doesn't matter as long as you believed they were a minor - the last two don't have a statute of limitations...

It feels really bizarre because on one hand I agree with you and it was just dirty chats that didn't go anywhere and while morally reprehensible (I haven't forgiven myself for it and it still causes me a ton of grief), it didn't actually result in pornography or physical contact. I guess I'm terrified that admitting to an interviewer if they asked if I have some "blackmail" material in my past, that a prosecutor could take that as an admission and send me to prison. Which I frankly probably deserve.
