I’m trying to thread the needle here because the housing problem (crisis) is very real and I’m all for building affordable housing, but this is such a comically ridiculous response.

None of these townhomes will be affordable to anyone but the 0.1%. This is the richest neighborhood in the whole city. Building these townhomes is completely profit driven and has nothing to do with affordability. There aren’t any townhomes like it around this area, it’s a neighborhood suburb. These townhomes are being built with the express purpose of luring in people who know the zip code and are trying to keep up with the Joneses.

It makes absolutely no sense to build townhomes smack dab in the middle of the richest neighborhood in the city. There’s plenty of single family homes elsewhere in the Bay Area that can be developed into multi-family housing that aren’t right in the middle of only single-family homes.
