Stocking/general advice

Hahahahahhaah you guys think I'm abusing my fish. Funny. To be fair, I never said I was going to keep the fish in this tank for the entirety of their lives.

You seemed to indicate you expected several years before the fish got big. The tank is already overstocked, so it's not as if it's an issue you can put off for the future.

Silver dollars dont grow to 8 inches in a year man, thats retarded.

They do if you're providing them good quality food and clean water. Many people here have kept them, people I've talked to have kept them, and people whom I listen to because they know what they're talking about have said that.

I came here to ask other people who have owned similar fish for advice, not to be policed and shamed by someone with a big ego who knows how to google.

I've owned, and do own similar fish. You're coming to a community of people of all different types of keepers. Some people here have 1000+ gallons of tanks in their homes. I'm closer to 200g. We know what we're talking about here. I keep big cichlids, of which most of your fish are. I know how fast they grow, I know how they watch you, I know how they get excited to be fed. Difference is I'm humble enough to listen to other people and give mine what they need. I also know how they interact with other large fish, with bichirs, with catfish, with spiny eels - all from personal experience.

The fish all appear to be very happy, and quite frankly, it's pretty damn rude to accuse me of abusing my fish.

If your fish are growing slowly enough you expect them to only hit max size in 10 years then they're not in a good environment for them. The only reason fish would grow that slowly is because you either underfeed them, feed them low quality food, or have dirty water. My oscar went from an inch to a foot in a year, that's not some freak incident either, that's standard for good care.

If you come to a community of people that take their aquariums seriously and ask for advice we're going to give it. If you don't like it then that's not our fault. We're a respectful community and you're insulting me after I apologized for downvotes without an explanation and then gave you a good explanation.

If you want people to tell you to go ahead and throw a red tail catfish, a gar, and an arowana in there then go find somewhere they'll give you advice that kills your fish. We're not going to do that here, even if you don't like it.
