Straight people; has a gay friend ever told you they had a crush on you? How did it go?

I used to know a girl that I secretly suspected deeply liked me as more than a friend. She was in denial about being lesbian, but when she finally came out she told me she fell for me a few times and still had some lingering feelings.

Sadly, her confession and her coming out came at a bad time because I was cutting off toxic people from my life, and she was someone who caused me a lot of emotional stress and grief; it reached that point where it affected my mental and physical health.

I'm sure she is a really nice person, but she just wasn't the right friend for me.

She was needy, obsessive, super possessive, jealous, selfish, a bit cruel, always picked on me/made fun of me, kept criticising me, couldn't be my real self around her because she called me weird (or worse) in a way that was not endearing. was something of a hypocrite (i.e. it's okay for her to go out with friends but not fine for me to do so), and so forth. She was very high-maintenance and demanding.

Long story short, it was a very toxic friendship.

I often either came home crying and stressed out or felt that way prior to a hang out with her because being her friend was like carefully dancing the waltz while blinded all while trying not to trigger a land mine.

I hope she is happy and is still doing great things in her life.
