All the clubs in my city closed today. I lucky saved myself a years emergency fund. Most dancers I know are already in the worst case scenario. My state is one of the poorest in the country. Before this happened dancers were facing evictions, eating day to day, in domestic violence situations, being addicted to drugs and alcohol, living in motels or couch surfing. I drove by my club today as they were closing and a bunch of my co workers were hanging out holding all the alcohol they grabbed on the way out. They told me they were going to party. I headed home to self quarantine. As much as people don’t like to here it no one pays taxes on their money here. The clubs either miss classified us as employees and never paid us or don’t even ask us for ids when we got hired. So no government money is coming to any of the hundreds of dancers here. This is the worst case scenario.
