Successful people who got crappy grades in high school or college - what are you doing now and how did (or didn't) your grades affect your success/career?

Had a life long learning disability that was discovered in 10th grade. By then, I was a serious juvenile delinquent, and had already done time for stealing cars and wrecking them for fun. Ten years of emotional abuse and public humiliation for doing my very best work kinda pissed me off.

Graduated HS 187th out of 189,, only because two AMAZING educators refused to give up on me, even though the rest of the staff,, my family, and myself long since had. Drifted into CC with a friend, just because it was that time of the year, but I had zero confidence as a scholar, and was paying full tuition out of pocket to ditch classes. I dropped out after one semester with a D average, and went to work as a warehouseman. It felt more natural to drive forklift than go to college.

Went back to CC six years later. I had read voraciously, and was constantly seeking mentors to debate with. I finally bit the bullet, and enrolled, thinking I had no business there, but I was mentally tough enough to go anyway. I may be a stupid loser, but I can persevere ANYTHING for two years...

Cruised on to the deans list, and stayed on it. Transferred to state U, and graduated with honors. I have had a solid middle class career as a business operator/fixer since graduating (ED, GM, VP, Principal Consultant, etc.) My HS classmates are always stunned at how this played out. (I don't brag at class reunions, but this is a rural economic environment, so everybody knows what's up, and somebody always starts the conversation.)

To be clear, I am not a big deal: You hear about the big fish in the small pond? I am a guppy in a mud-puddle. But I was born to be an amoeba, so being a guppy is a clear step up...

Life is good, if you keep at it.

TLDR: Least likely to succeed becomes moderately successful.
