‘Suspended With Pay’ Policy Needs To Change..Now !!

Use of force in Ontario is always investigated with a suspicion of wrong doing.

By other "civilians" aka (retired) officers... with no public oversight. Ontario's criminal justice system heavily favours police and gives officers breaks at every turn — from the SIU, which hardly ever charges officers, to prosecutors, juries and judges. The SIU has conducted over 3,400 investigations and laid criminal charges only for 95 of them, even further, only 17 officers have been convicted of a crime, and Only three have seen the inside of a jail — as inmates.

However, if civilians were caught murdering, killing, beating, prostituting, etc like some police officers have, I'll give you all my money and say that not only will they be criminally charged, but will end up in jail faster than you can put my money in the bank.

If you think this you're blind to reality. Shift work, extreme amounts of overtime, mental illness and other problems are regular in the profession. It is extremely difficult to get into and fucking up has major penalties.

Sounds a lot like my husbands job as a labour operator in a steel factory. (PS- It's very easy to become an officer if you are physically fit. The psychological screening is a joke. Anyone can go to cop college and get "prep"d. And what are these major penalties you speak of?

It's one of the more accountable professions if you check out some psych journals. It is hard as hell to get into.

Please show me your sources. I'm very interested in this part. I'd really like to know more about where you came up with this idea.

Lastly, no one is saying an officer should be fired based on public opinion. Everyone is saying that if an officer is being investigated for charges, they should stop "suspending with pay". As far as justification, unless you a forensics, judge, or jury, you will have no idea if they are or not. There are details you will never be able to obtain publicly.
