Welcome! This thread shall serve as the thread for discussions about matches that are currently played live during Day 1 of the SMITE World Championship 2016. All thoughts about a game that is over should be passed over to the Post Match Threads of their respective games.

DON'Ts

• Although I do not have any power to enforce the rules stated, I do believe that such rules, if followed, can make this Live Thread much more constructive. After all, this thread is created as an alternative to Twitch chat, which is something this thread does not want to replicate.

• Please do not:

  • Perform emote spamming
  • Make a statement about a game after it has ended, those should go to the Post Match Threads instead
  • Talk about irrelevant stuff

EVENT DETAILS

• SMITE World Championships 2016

  • Date: January 7- January 10
  • Venue: Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Atlanta, Georgia.

• Format

  • Ravana is permanently banned in this tournament, Chiron however, is enabled.
  • 10 teams will compete in the tournament
  • Top seeds from North America (Cloud 9 G2A) and Europe (PARADIGM) will go straight to the Quarter Finals
  • Each of the 8 remaining teams will have to go through 2 placement games, all played in Best of 1.
  • First phase of the placement games consists of 4 games, winners of the initial stage gets put into the winners Bracket, losers will be placed in the losers bracket
  • Phase 2 of the placement stage will decide seedings for the Quarter finals, with the bottom 2 seeds facing the already determined top seeds Cloud 9 G2A and PARADIGM
  • Winners of the winners bracket will be 3rd and 4th seeds, losers however, 5th and 6th seeds
  • Winners of the losers bracket will be 7th and 8th seeds, losers of the losers bracket will be eliminated from the tournament
  • Remaining games are played in a Single-elimination knockout bracket
  • Quarter finals and Semi finals are played in a Best of 3 format.
  • The Grand Finals is played in a Best of 5 format
