Why are Americans and Europeans so disobedient when it comes to obeying COVID rules set by governments?

Capitalism. Individualism.

Everyone out for themselves attitude.

In all countries, the more educated people obviously follow covid safety recommendations, doesn't matter what culture.

But in countries where individualism comes after your responsibility to society, the less educated still follow guidelines in order to be a good member of society. That's mostly... well... Asian countries.

In western countries, where it's the other way around, rebeling is somehow encouraged, and it... somehow makes you a martyr. And back the education aspect. They value education in Asia. Smart people are revered, the smartest kids in class weren't looked down on. In the US, smart kids are "fucking nerdy losers" and education is belittled. Anyone smarter than you was just an asshole loser. Well... those kids grew up and still carried that attitude and here we are.

And before anyone reads this and thinks I somehow hate the US... I was born and raised in the US and lived in Hong Kong during summer break. Who better to speak about the contrast of two societies than someone who's lived in both.
