Well, do you have a plus on /r/pipetobaccomarket yet? It is customary for transactions to be simultaneous if both parties have pluses. If not, then the one without a plus acts first. I usually send money via PayPal. permalink

Unfortunately I'm bust till payday (which is either the 23rd or the 26th), so I can't send you the pipe right away unless you paypal me the money first and then I transfer it to my bank account. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just operating by the norms of this sub which are detailed on the sidebar. I've completed dozens of trades and sales on this sub, I got my plus, I like to use it. But ok, you quit smoking so why would you care to get your plus? I get it. How about this. I send you postage plus some as a deposit. You use it to send the pipe. When I receive it, I send the balance. Sound fair? permalink

Well, we did have a deal. We agreed on a price. You just refused to abide by the rules and etiquette of this subreddit. The plus system is there for a reason and all members are strongly urged to abide by it since people have been burned before. I decided to bend the rules for you at my own risk and you decided that I wasn't bending them enough. It's too bad, but that is just the way it goes sometimes. I suggest you sell your pipe on eBay. That way, you will get payment upfront and the buyer will have the protection and assurances built in to Ebay that they will receive the item and that it will match the description. Good luck. Fair enough Part of the reason Im wary is because I've been burned by these sorts of things before. So hopefully you understand my reticence. It won't be going up on eBay. The last one I sold was sold through eBay and by the time all the fees and shipping was over with I made $38 dollars on a pipe I sold for $55. Not worth it. I understand your concern. Do you understand mine? I have a plus and have completed literally dozens of trades and sales. You claim to have done just one. If you want, you can request a plus from the mods for having completed the trade. At that point we can make a simultaneous transfer. I get it man. But to be frank, I don't care how the sub works. As far as I'm concerned when someone buys something offline, the money is given first and then the product is sent. That's how it works with literally every single online store there is, I don't see any reason why a p2p exchange should be any different. I'm willing to take half the price of the item and then a shipping charge, then send you the item. But 10$ for a Savinelli Churchwarden is what I could be stuck with on the off chance you decide you don't want to pay. Maybe you think the stem has too many teeth marks, maybe you decide you don't like the texture of the bowl, maybe you decide it smells too much like whatever tobacco I was smoking in it before. I don't know you and I don't know the mods who gave you the plus. I don't even know how the plus works. The way I look at it is if you give $24 dollars, then I may have just sold that pipe for 24$ and I may not see another cent. That's a hell of a loss, but a risk I'd be willing to take. $10 dollars on the other hand after shipping would leave me $6, which is a risk of $39 dollars. I don't have enough money or make enough money to take that risk. I understand your reticence. There are NO hard feelings on my end. I have the pipe, you have the money. I don't really think I'm being unreasonable asking for half upfront. That's the deal, take it or leave it. Either way, I'm not going to hold it against you or the sub.
