Teacher shortfall means some are unable to enroll in preschool

Teacher here, almost quit last year to work at Wal-Mart because I could make $10k more than I was. Everyone keeps making cliche comments like “find your why” “It’s not about the money, it’s about the passion” “It’s a public service not a job.” That’s great and all until you can’t pay your bills and put food on the table. Last year 7 out of 8 teachers in my hallway quit. I’m the only one left because I didn’t settle just to escape. Literally to this moment still looking for a different better paying job.

We are nearly to that F around and find out phase where we don’t have teachers. Last time I checked the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, teachers were a net loss of 200k. Meanwhile Ed Departments in several colleges have shut down because they don’t have enough students. But hey, “find your why” right?
