Teachers of Reddit, what is something a student of yours has said that made you think 'wow, there is no hope left for you'?

Not a teacher, but when I was in high school I was doing homework with one of my friends at the public library, I got up to print my paper and when I got back my friend said he was finishing up and went to get his paper printed.

The day after our papers are due my teacher pulls me outside and asks me about my paper. I don’t really remember what he said to me but I do recall having to say I didn’t cheat and asked him why he was asking me this.

He showed me the paper my friend turned in. I told him about the paper and how a friend and I were both working on our papers together. No we didn’t work on it together. We had different topics. This was done so no 2 paper would be the same. Turns out my friend forgot this and decided the best way for him to turn in his paper was to print out another copy of my paper, cross out my name (you could still see it), write his name above mine (in blue pen) and turn it in.

We stopped being friends.

This was apparently his master plan. Except he was too stupid to realize our topics were different and too much of an idiot to realize then when he made a copy of my paper he should have at least changed the name at the top.

Couldn’t even lie effectively. Got caught cheating so many times he ended up expelled.

I think the teacher only pulled my aside to say he followed some sort of procedure or something.
